Shade trees are a necessary and integral part of a healthy city. Too bad Newburgh tends not to plant shade trees, but instead has planted flowering ornamentals, such as Bradford pears. They look pretty in spring, but there's one thing missing... SHADE. It's also too bad the city hasn't properly maintained its older trees; They are obviously considered a nuisance. A drive through the city demonstrates streets that are completely devoid of any trees, whatsoever. Ever travel on the southern blocks of Fullerton, for instance? It's like Death Valley. There's not a green thing in sight.

You don't cut the budget of a committee that hasn't had anything much to spend, to begin with. To pay attention to this, is to pay attention to another shiny object that would have no impact upon the big picture at all.
