Yes, it is absurd to even imagine all those bikers racing over the tender greens and thin pathways of this precious, vulnerable park. Perhaps a place in the town of Newburgh would be more suitable (especially since this event does not involve the citizens of the city of Newburgh and is organized by Town of Newburgh folks) like Chadwick Park or the Stewart Buffer Lands? But the people in charge of those properties no doubt wouldn't consider such an onslaught.

The city didn't consider it because the City Council was not made aware of it, except for one City Council member who is also, conveniently, a member of the DPPC!!!!!

The DPPC is a private incorporated organization that, at one time, did real restoration and preservation work for the city of Newburgh's Downing Park. No longer.
