Subject: Silent crisis

City of Newburgh is plagued by understaffing in both public safety departments. Those being the Police and Fire department. Press coverage has been scant at best, but it still should raise public safety concerns, as of the writing of this post, another homicide has happened in the city, no word from the RUPCO murder on lander, and now another one on Broadway. Dispatchers telling the press calls for police go unanswered due to lack of staffing. Fire department going outside city to fight structure fires in neighboring Towns. Wouldn't be as bad if two fire stations were staffed, but Newburgh sends it's only engine on duty, while the city is left without coverage until callbacks staff an apparatus, or they can be lucky enough to get mutual aid to assemble a company to help cover the city while it's only in service engine leaves for areas outside of its borders. As stated before, leaving the citizens without fire protection until a machine is staffed! God forbid another fire emergency transpires while those members are out lending a already bound helping hand, but leaving the city in a precarious situation of playing catch up with emergency calls due to no staff. This city government is playing Russian Roulette with the lives and property of its residents. Mr. Grice has once again went on record, using the context of fiscal savings over public safety. Now look at what fiscal savings has resulted in our community. When the front liners tell you of their problems, and they go unanswered, who is to blame?
