So Ms. Mehar is the only candidate on the Working Families line?

Best of the worst? I’m not sure about that. I believe that Pastor McLymore was the best candidate in the race, and it will be nice to have Councilman Shakur retired.

Do I believe that Ms. Bello would be a better Councilwoman than Ms. Mehar? Yes. Do I believe that Ms. Bello will defeat Ms. Mehar in the November election? No. At least the worst candidate in the race, Ms. (Dr.?) Lee finished last in the race. Hopefully that is the last time that we will see her name on the ballot.

The biggest takeaway from yesterday’s election was the apathy of the city’s Democratic voters. Poughkeepsie had about 1700 vote and Kingston about 1500. Newburgh? Only about 900. I don’t know what the Democratic enrollment is in those three cities, but I bet the percentage of Newburgh’s eligible voters was much less than the other two.
