This is the type of behavior that is presented by elected officials, when no one challenges them in mass. Meaning, we have to come out as an organized group and one by one speak to the ridiculous antics, and disrespect of the mayor and city officials. People have power if it is directed appropriately! Honestly, you don't see this happening in the town of Newburgh, I say this because the residents wouldn't stand for it.
Newburgh has a long running history of political malaise, ignorance and community exclusion. Now the tale of the tape, has shown that suppression, and a direct agenda, to implement said suppression. What is to be done? Countless news articles, and a D. A.'s statement on lack of communication deviating from past history, and most importantly, public FOIA information has attested to this. Enough is enough. Hopefully the state can come in, or some federal entity, to address, what is now a great problem. A lawyer, who goes unchecked, and is backed by city government, is a grave problem. I speak of Venning, he may be smart, but he is an antisocial, control freak. When the smartest guy in the room, has no one to differ to, it creates a power imbalance to say the least. He takes no interviews, phone calls, or public speaking outside of council meetings, or news publications, on community, or infrastructure improvements. He has created a real buffer between him, and the community. My god, he has a chief of staff? Who is this guy? A crime riddled city of 30k, needs a chief of staff? GTFOH. This guy is running game on us all. Sad part, the council is complicit. He is a great accountant, but not a great manager in the Sense of community communication. Robotic, calculative, and cold sums up his persona. A shrewd manager, likened to Ebenezer Scrooge in the Christmas Carol, before his transformation brought on by Jacob Marley and others. This story really can't get any worse. Oh, wonder how much the city has paid in lawsuits since vennings tenure? It's like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie roll pop? The world may never know! But in all seriousness, we have a problem of epic proportions on our hands. A Mayor who doesn't stand to hear constituents, or employees who have legitimate issues with governance, and a city manager who is beyond approach!
