Autocracy is lurking behind every door, on every floor of City Hall. Boards & Commissions can't issue ordinary press releases about community outreach events. An attorney hovers at all board and commission meetings. Tells them what they can and cannot do -- as if the code is carved in stone and can't be changed. All emails to boards must go through a secretary and legal, not to board members. at one meeting, the attorney actually said "we want to minimize communication between the public and departments". !!!!!

Hey City Hall...THIS IS NEWBURGH! AUTOCRACY will NEVER succeed here. we all have our differences -- many groups, many agendas, many opinions...but WE TALK TO ONE ANOTHER, to city employees, to the press, across many diverse lines. We are talkers, in a good old-fashioned community sense. We are not a silent lot. time to show up at the next council meeting. NO AUTOCRACY IN NEWBURGH. CUT IT OUT VENNING!
