On the popular political chat board The Newburgh Voy, poster "CenHudDude" opines on the Councilman's involvement in the ongoing censorship controversy. In the thread "Councilman Grice, would you please hold this "L", sir? Thank you" he also has what I believe to be pertinent questions for the outgoing Councilman. Perhaps he can answer them here. The post, unedited, follows:

"This is very sad. The sophomoric stunt of the city administration has blown up spectacularly, displaying the city once again in a very poor light, and who, of all people, is out front trying to defend the indefensible is Councilman Grice. The councilman is an intelligent man who has worked very hard at his job and has been a voice of reason on the Council. Although I haven’t agreed with many of his positions, I respected them and supported his run for Orange County Clerk.
I regretted his decision not to run for Re-election as a city councilman. The fact that he is now out front on social media attacking the Orange County D.A. and impugning an up and coming journalist is greatly tarnishing his reputation as he finishes his last year in office. What a sad way to end his political career.
A few questions and concerns for you Councilman Grice: 1. Do you understand that instead of just issuing a press release outlining the reduction of crime in Newburgh this sophomoric stunt insured that the “Unhinged attack” resulted in nobody paying attention to the crime statistics that the city was trying to publish? 2. Do you understand that the City of Newburgh does not need any enemies, and therefore does not need to be picking unnecessary fights with the top prosecutor in the jurisdiction and an influential cable news station? 3. Do you now realize that there was no conspiracy between D.A. Hoovler and Blaise Gomez? 4. Do you now realize that neither the D.A. nor Channel 12 news ever said or implied that the City was not doing their mandated crime statistic reporting? 5. Do you realize that there is no news older than yesterday’s news? The arrest report that the City publishes on its website, when I last looked yesterday was updated only through March 5th. 6. Do you realize that an arrest report only contains a fraction of the crimes being committed in the city? How many crimes remain unsolved? 7. The city maintains a very expensive “shot spotter” system. Please be transparent and publish the weekly information of how many times that gets activated.
I believe that you are a good man Councilman Grice. I hope that you will re-consider what you and the city have done, and that at least you will issue a sincere apology to D.A. Hoovler and Ms. Gomez."

I do not usually engage with people who have limited profiles or fake names as I find them to be keyboard warriors, and lack the courage to publicly stand on their word.
I decided not to run for City Council to focus on my family. I have worked hard, and made tremendous sacrifices. It is not that I foresee a scandal or think I cannot get re-elected. Further, lest anyone be confused, I have a good support base, strong relationships, and political influence. I still walk the streets here. I still volunteer here.
The DA is an elected official. He has absolutely no control over any local department or City Hall. So the expectation is collaboration. If anybody speaks with him, he will tell you that I have said the same to him and specifics as, again , I stand on my word. From my research, nobody in án official capacity asked him to limit press about crime originating in the City of Newburgh. I never asked him or anyone to do that. If so, he has to prove it. Further as he can attest to, no municipality shares everything to the media. Some do better than others. It also undermines our police leadership, as they support the policy for press releases, which would make them in cahoots with a cover up. Plus, I know for a fact that most emails from the news were answered within 24 hours. Falsehoods like that have to be refuted no matter how influential the person is perceived. It undermines trust.
In fact, some of the reasons why I’m respected is that most people know that I am active in the community, that I get things done, that I do a tremendous amount of research, that I back up my claims with verified facts, that I am not afraid and do not discriminate on who I speak to no matter political party, popularity, influence, financial status, or position.
I personally find the false accusations offensive considering the hard work that I have put in. It undermines credibility and trust. It has the potential to overshadow all of the good things we have done.
If anyone thinks that just like I communicate with both of them, that they do not with each other, they are kidding themselves.
I am also aware of some of the political, financial, and racial mechanisms behind these baseless claims
The crime stats were already being ignored, and called a cover up.
Shotspotter is just one tool, and still requires an investigation. As I have stated to Hoovler, the City of Newburgh does not have a gun shop or shooting range here. Guns do not have border guards that just keep them in one area. I will gladly work with him on programs that stop illegal guns from getting in here, and eradicating the ones here. I will also join him on some adjustments to bail reform as long as it does not erase the basic tenets, and I will join him on lowering the age limit for people who use guns in a crime. But let’s be clear, we cannot arrest our way into lowering crime. It takes mental health, drug treatment, workforce development, youth activities, and other things.
So I will not apologize. However, both are welcome to start over.
