Venning is a numbers guy, probably competent in that focus. Not a communicator, not a people's person. He's simply in the wrong job. Should taxpayers foot a 6 figure salary for a guy who is out of his comfort zone? The Chief of Staff was supposed to be the intermediary to soften that gap between numbers and people. 5-figure salary to support the 6-figure wrong person? I "get" that the City can't afford to go through vetting another City Manager at this critical moment. But he hasn't 'earned' a raise.
