We all start at the same "moral standard". The only one we can hold to that standard is ourselves. The only one that can hold us to that standard is ourselves. That's hard, it takes an ongoing deliberate effort. Barring that it's easier to hold "others" to The standard within a framework of professionalism or higher callings. It's a false reality, a cop out. A false reality as an institution sets up a front for actual reality to do what it does, unabaited, seldom questioned as doing so would force us to look in the mirror. Sacrosanct, the institution becomes overpowering, dictating what reality should be, ideologizing it, redifining it. With 'spidey-sense' lost, when something is "off" it becomes unrecognizable. When there is 'a glitch in the matrix', it is attributed as an outlier, after all its operating within a "higher standard". It takes a shtf moment to begin to break free from the false reality. Even with that, cog dis will have heads rooted so deep they can not, will not be pulled up.
