Councilmen Grice and Sklarz and Councilwoman Monteverde were big on the false narrative last night. Councilwoman Monteverde even made negative comments about some posters on this board. The mayor mentioned people accusing the city of “fudging the numbers”.

Most of us have seen the Channel 12 news segment and know exactly what Blaise Gomez was presenting and what the short quote from D.A. Hoovler was. The city was being “accused “ if you will, of having its employees gagged (the city doesn’t like that word) from speaking to the press, and the City Manager not responding to the press. No objective person who saw the Channel 12 news segment is buying the city’s narrative.

As I mentioned in a post earlier this afternoon under the “City Manager Venning” thread, I was encouraged by the professionalism exhibited last night by both the city manager and Commissioner Gomerez. I can’t believe that all 7 people on the council truly believe that their press release that laid open the city to ridicule was not a terrible mistake that hopefully will never be repeated. I would like to have at least one of the seven admit that their grievances with D.A. Hoovler and Channel 12 news were poorly handled in that press release. That might begin to rebuild the public trust that the mayor says is a number 1 priority.
