While the adults in the room are slinging chit at eachother on the reporting of crime stats, with some taking to deflect from that issue and pointing to the reduction in 'reported' crimes as a product of arrests and or justice reforms. I think there is something more to this "reduction" that needs to be met proactively opposite of the "problem ,crisis, solution" grind. Newburgh's population as reported by the census has been flat over the last few years. Well, if you live in the 'Burgh you know that doesn't jibe with reality...jam-packed housing, jam-packed traffic, jam-packed garbage cans, jam-packed social services, etc.. It suggests the city is a product of a surging 'grey' economy...the city even rolled out a 'municipal i.d.' catering to it. Recognizing that, there is a plausible explanation for the current correlation of crime relative to an increased population. Well and good for the time being. But what happens moving forward? Ask what happens when "assimilation, selection, and deterrence" meets a 'real' economy that is increasingly stagflating and a ptb plugging a cbdc into play? What's the plan Newburgh?...
