After decades of incarcerating people and spending billions dealing with weed as a problem, states and various municipalities are now taxxing the people for the same product. What's next, distribute an experimental, 'er, "safe and effective", driver of gene therapy free of charge? Btw, have they stopped fentanyl from streaming into the country via what amounts to an open border ? As per the weed... here in NYS "preferred" growers front ran the legalization of weed with the promise that licensed retail stores would open asap. Not. The state dragged azz on the licencing so the weed was either rotting or hitting the grey market. With exceptions...Hudson Cannabis, owned by David Rockefeller’s daughter, Abby Rockefeller.

Different product and different era but a similar scam...prohibition the scam supported by Rockefellers and his friends who owned Seagrams to make it illegal here for long enough to bankrupt most of the US makers then come in and dominate the market and buy up all the remaining facilities (the "Rockefeller Plan", the percursor to the regulation by license). All in the name of temperance.

Bonus, as a considerable amount of alcohol was being diverted from purported industrial or medical uses, the demand for petrol increased. Well, he had the "industry" part covered, so because petrol isn't just for machines (who knew), Rockefeller seeds BigPharma.
Added bonus...Ford's Model T able to run on ethanol allowed the peeps to stop at local farms (equipped with stills) to refuel his/her car during long trips through the backcountry..."gas" station, what's that?". J.D.R.'s Standard Oil Company, having a monopoly on gasoline at this time, wasn't having it. Ford obliged...why wouldn't he. That didn't completely kill the corn to fuel concept, though, as it spawned the governments private/public partnership with Big Agra to "grow" a gas additive just in time for the growth of the highways.
