Engagement is at its height when they need something from us: their votes. If it's not happening now, it will never happen as long as they are in office. They will have gotten all they need to serve their term. It's not their personal identities that are the issue, it's the process and the influences behind them. I find it fascinating that the process of collecting signatures to get on a ballot is necessary. What does a bunch of random signatures from people willing to sign anything indicate? Why not list every person who's willing to take on the task? Looking at current and past candidates, the result couldn't possibly be worse and more likely would be better.
