You must be new here if you think Newburgh has recently become a “welcoming city” because Newburgh has been, and will always be, a welcoming city. Welcoming immigrants here is nothing new, we have welcomed immigrants since our founding. Granted, there have been a number of electeds who have done their best to discourage, disparage and disengage immigrants in Newburgh, whether those immigrants come from another country or another US state. Still, immigrants come, settle, work, build and thrive here despite that. Newburgh electeds these days are always looking for someone thy deem beneath them to blame for the state of this city, while their own ignorance of and complicity in furthering dependency on service industries & the local, county, state, federal dollar. Half the time, they don’t even know where the money came from or what it’s for. Ignorance of policy is the foundation of that. Ask Shakur to explain how grants work, or Robert’s Rules, or terms of negotiated contracts for police and fire. . lol.
