Give the mayor some credit here. He knew he was caught and did apologize for saying that the residents had heat. This whole situation is problematic though. The codes chief admitted that the landlord had been operating without a rental permit since last March because of boiler problems. The city may finally declare a state of emergency tomorrow. They either didn’t know they could do this until Harry Porr suggested they do so, or they just didn’t want to do what apparently is necessary to protect these vulnerable residents.

How about that council meeting? Nearly four hours of chaos. It should be shown nationwide as a teaching tool as to how not to conduct a municipal meeting.
