Time to start the clock on the downward spiral about to happen in the City. $200k for Venning and $300+ for Manning Campbell. No comparison. The city is in the best financial shape it has been in decades, thanks to Venning and he he is clearly worth more than what he was paid. The school district is a disaster with dozens of deputies and assistants all paid in the $200k range.

The single most important issue to the council/ board and tax payers of both agencies should be the financial health and accountability.

The new council members came in with an agenda to get rid of Venning and he beat them to the punch.

They will not appoint Neppl as his successor, even though it would be in the best interest of the City. They can’t control him. They want culture change.
So a current employee will be appointed interim and if there is a God it won’t be the insufferable Vradanburgh, but don’t expect Neppl to hang around.

A nationwide search is a ridiculous waste of taxpayer money. Either another non local carpet bagger like Ciaravino, or a local political crony will be appointed and will be handed the keys to a city with a proverbial clean financial slate to screw up. I give it less than a year.

The new council wants to appear strong and determined yet can’t make any basic decisions. Yes there is a learning curve but there doesn’t seem to be a humble bone in any of them. They exude hostility and paranoia and seem annoyed that they actually have to do some work.

Venning took them to school last week. I hope they were taking notes. Time will tell, tick took.
