Timekeeper, I hear you. The financial stability of this city should be the non‑negotiable priority for anyone in public office. Unnecessary spending without a clear plan for how it affects taxpayers is exactly how cities lose their footing. And yes, God help us if the appointment process becomes about personalities instead of qualifications and character. We have a pattern in this city of electing people who fall in love with the title but forget the responsibility that comes with it. Campaign season is full of promises, but once the votes are counted, accountability to all residents, not just a ward or a base, is what matters. People keep saying that offering more money will attract better candidates, but money does not buy integrity, humility, or good judgment. At the end of the day, the most important qualification for leadership is character, the kind that puts taxpayers first, listens more than it talks, and respects the weight of the job.
