Subject: Why Newburgh

I recently read that some are complaining about Blaise Gomez and her reporting on issues in Newburgh, labeled as negative .

This gave me, as a lifetime resident, some pause. I am going to go out on a limb here, and say that in my experience the complainers fit into two categories. Firstly, African-Americans (AA) and secondly liberal minded whites, especially middle-aged females. More often both groups are ill-informed and simply either don’t know, or do not bother to educate themselves, on facts that impact our City.

So let me begin,

-How many AA males start the tenth year of their HS education, compared to how many graduate?
-What is the average age for a AA females first pregnancy, I recall the number being 15.
-What percentage of AA females are clinically overweight.
-How many AA males are presently on parole or probation.
-By age 20 how many children does the average AA make have fathered.
-How many pay child support.
-How many are employed.
-What is the infant mortality rate in Newburgh. Last I knew it was amongst the highest in New York State.
-How many AA’s are currently on public assistance, including Section 8 housing.

These are some of the questions the complainers should get answers to. Believe me Ms. Gomez is more than kind to Newburgh.
.
