It is interesting to note that as the city begins the charter review process, the cities of Hudson and Kingston are also beginning to review their charters. A lot of folks in those two cities believe that their strong mayor systems are flawed. I guess the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. Personally, I believe in the City Manager system. The fact that Mr. Venning was not a problem solver, but rather a dictatorial type who would rather throw up obstacles to solving problems than to think creatively to solve them, does not mean that the system is flawed. What was flawed was that the City Ciuncil was not strong enough to reign him in.
