It's only an issue because virtue signaling legislation correlating job performance via a residency requirement was called out. Ironically, there is support for the deep pocketed "grassroot" socialists in vilifying non-resident airbnb owners, despite the fact these owners pay property and school taxes. Further, it doesn't stop 'em from taking more vig via an additional tax on the short term airbnb residents with the rationale of "paying their fair share", whatever that means, they're already paying a premium to rent and they're dropping money into the local economy.
