Words from Councilman Grice' Facebook page on Saturday's clean up on Lutheran Street. Unity and honesty is the key, rather than half truths, divisiveness and pontification. Mayor Harvey and Councilman Shakur, take notice.

Councilman Anthony Grice

This warmed my heart. I did this event to help residents, with no expectancy of social media. I knew a few residents would show up, but at 8:30ish I started thinking that it would only be us few, and was ready to start Then I saw one, two, three, ten firefighters walking towards me with smiles, brooms, rakes, and shovels. They provided free breakfast sandwiches, hotdogs, hamburgers. and soda to the community. The Water Department had our fabulous water truck, and Keep Newburgh Beautiful kept things beautiful. Thanks to the Planning Department that provided the funds. Thanks to Taylor for the dumpster. The Codes Supervisor showed up to help clean. Thanks also to Council-member Monteverde who showed up to help, and my colleagues who also supported this event and understandably couldn’t make it. I did come to a better understanding of the struggles of our firefighters. We will get through this as the residents deserve it. Most important, I want to thank those residents who love their block. We will do it again.
