A trend is a trend until it is broken. As long as I still have to pick up someone else's garbage on my property on a daily basis, without fanfare, and walk past new garbage on the street and dog shit on the sidewalk everyday, the trend is intact. I cleanup after my dog because it doesn't have opposable thumbs, otherwise she would do it herself. It isn't progress, it's what civilized people do.
