I'm can't translate goebbels style into tangible english. So this is for readers who want to engage in energetic discussions about city hall's day-to-day fiascos, of which there are endless examples. Chief of Staff. that's an $80,000 human wall between the City Manager and us, citizens. Newburgh's New Autocracy. let's remember: Mr. city manager had NO EXPERIENCE with the public. A numbers guy: Spreadsheets, budgets, ratings. but our flat-lining City Council made him city manager because he improved the budget! Now our population of 28000 is stuck with an $80000 Chief of Staff (Mike Neppl) to access leadership. There's a form to fill out online to send emails to the Council. the chain of command is so long now that a Press Release for an event didn't get approved until AFTER the event. Chain of Command. An assistant Corporation Counsel (T. Carter) recently stated at a public meeting that 'we want to minimize communication between the public and department heads." hmmm. really? so the flat-lining city council resolves its issues by hiring an outside Marketing Communications firm for a monthly retainer of $11,200. The Chain of Command just got longer. Newburgh's New Autocracy.
