Federal authorities have made mass arrests this morning in Hudson and Bergen counties on public corruption and money laundering charges. It is believed to be one of the largest roundups by federal authorities in state history.

Arrested were: Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell, Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano, state Assemblyman Peter Van Pelt, Jersey City Council President Mariano Vega and Jersey City Deputy Mayor Leona Baldini.

Also arrested were: Jersey City council candidate Guy Catrillo, La Vern Webb-Washington, a Jersey City council candidate, Jersey City's health officer Joseph Castagna, and John Guarini, who ran for Congress, Ron Manzo, who is the brother of Hudson County politician Luis Manzo, and Richard Green who works in the accounting and purchasing department in Jersey City.
