Non-profits and speculatory landlords subsidized with tax sourced dollars "invest" and have for decades. Housing is Impact study? Are we new at this? Newburgh's currency and, like any currency, it derives its perceived value from what backs it. Decades of rationed municipal services do not reflect a real value as high as the latest inflated property assessments of the past or present indicate. When property values go south so do municipal services, leaving the 'Burgh with little to no slack to reduce needed expenses, i.e. safety departments. Then what? I get the impression there's a general view that the feds will helicopter money on the masses. Maybe, but that will push inflation higher...
