Mayor torrance harvey:

“Our city manager and city council have emphasized that we are really, really going to trail down this overtime. In 2020, it was like $1.6 million just for the fire department.”

Of course the mayor fails to mention that the city laid off 12 firefighters in the beginning of 2020, causing the increase in overtime. The Mayor also neglects to factor the increase of overtime due to Covid 19.

Long story short, this clown, Todd Venning, and the city council made the wrong decision to understaff the fire dept after knowing the risks and some one paid for it with their life. When vilified by the press, his fellow politicians, and most importantly the community for his part in the tragedy, he manipulates numbers, puts out misinformation, and blames the victims. A real class act.
