The reason for these layers in the department(s) is so the CM controls the Commissioner, and in turn by the commissioner overseeing the Chief of the department, he controls the show. That's the only reason. When Cameron was here, they wanted control, he wasn't doing the bidding of management as far as stupidity. The council listened to the CM, and he put together a smoke and mirror show. Now we see how it turns out. Same in the FD, they created a commissioner position, but never filled it, either due to no viable candidates, or the Chief in there now goes along with the horse shit. Which I think is the case because you only have one fire engine on duty, that's why shit is burning down. It's starting to warm up, and those of us from here know how crime will take off, especially when the PD is understaffed, and overworked. None of the city government has public safety assessment needs, the new councilman Mclymore is excluded, as to he was not in office when the cuts were made, he is a law enforcement supervisor, so I know he understands. But the rest of the bunch will find out. Hate to be pessimistic, but at this stage we cannot trust their decision making, look at the educational retreat at Mohonk. When they hired the Commish and Chief, it was the end all to be all, look at it now. No swat team, no communication with county officials, low staffing, and an unreachable CM who has a gag order on department heads. The wizard of Oz is doing some fucked up shit behind closed doors. Fire department on a skeleton crew, every fire if not for mutual aid would be a 3rd and 4th alarm. Stop the mutual aid, like the mayor originally wanted, and this city would burn. Ask why no lateral transfers want to be here? Has anyone even noticed how short staffed the police are? The director at Hudson Pointe asked for help with improving safety of its residents, only to be told that there wasn't enough patrol officers to accommodate her reasonable request. This city is hanging on by a thread, and no one in John Q public knows the severity. The out going Chief and Commissioner wanted to get rid of shot spotter, and use that funding for more resources, luckily they didn't get rid of the system, or there would be less gun control in the city! A large portion of gun arrests in the city has been due in a major part to shot spotter. It tells within feet where a gunshot has occurred. Helping the understaffed dept narrow down a field of search. The Fire department is beat down, being accused by the council of overtime scams, harassment to the mayor and other falicies that could be thought of. Just to cut the department to unsafe numbers, and use the backwards budget cuts to fund shit we don't need like 60k retreats, and a Mayor going to the white house to grandstand about issues he had no real part in. This place is a joke, because clowns are running the show.
