My wife and I spent many good evenings watching Night Hawks and Black Diamonds games at Delano Hitch. Both teams failed financially though. Unfortunately, if someone else tried to start another team in the Burgh, it too would fail, for all the reasons that you state plus one you didn’t. The Newburgh teams were independent, that is, not affiliated with Major League Baseball. The teams at Dutchess Stadium were always affiliated with MLB, first with the Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays, and now with the NY Yankees. The only winner here is the consulting firm walking off with a quick 50 K from this cash starved city. Kaching, kaching.
