I love how we have sociologists, cultural theorists and social workers all on the same forum. Newburghs problem has been, and will be for the foreseeable future has been political. The Newburgh white paper documentary, depicted how northern white politicians and business entities, preyed on southern citizens to migrate up north( to Newburgh ) to various NY cities to be made into housing tenants for section 8. In this process, like many before, people seeking opportunity were taking advantage of, and eventually discarded. Introduce urban renewal, then crack, and woohlah, their you have poverty and crime, created by greedy white men. Nothing has changed, until the people who profited off of urban plight take responsibility for what they have created, this issue will go on into infinity, or how ever long this system holds together.
