I'd love to see any things that you have concerning the Granberrys. Of particular interest is the slave docs and the Exeter info....,I had heard of a village of Cranbury where the name came from. I also traced my direct relation to Bazemore Granberry a wealthy land owner and slave owner in Marianna, Florida and Alabama who originally came with all the other 1600 somethng Granberrys and Va was mentioned as a place where the Granberrys owned a town store kind of deal. When many people today view slave owners they think of tyrants...,my understanding through oral family reunion discourse is that Bazemore allowed his slaves(us) to purchase the land (300+ acres) they had farmed freely for years for little or nothing. I am the heir to about 50 of those acres and today I appreciate that I can go to a place where my ancestors chose and raised families and it's mine through a collective effort of the Granberry legacy. It's sad that we Granberrys(black/white) exist as a family today well sort of : ) and when we have our respective reunions we don't speak on the uniqueness and beauty of our slave/master relationship. I represent the slaveblood of the Granberry name and from my standpoint we have never hated our history or its events and we are grateful and better off after the outcome. You here my people (Spike Lee) speak of forty acres and a mule...,well my African southern ancestry didn't have that problem we got the whole kit n kaboodle fair and square. I hope that the ancestors of our former owner/friend/family member/bazemore appreciate us like he did and we do him! We are an educated bunch that has spread to both coasts. We have a family reunion in Atlanta this summer...,I invite anyone interested with open arms! Thanks and God Bless! If I can help you let me know!
>Thanks!
