I am the daughter of the late Samuel Granberry who was the grandson of George C. Granberry born into slavery, he and his brothers and sisters , known as "yard children" because they were the children of the slave owner and his slave cook , Sarah Flag were educated by their white sisters although this was against the law. After emancipation, George Carl Granberry attended Tuskegee ins. and became chairman of Hinds Co. Ms. during reconstruction George Carl was caucasian in appearance His son , Henry Clay Granberry met my grandmother Melissa Ann Mabry at Hinds Co. college and married her Good luck with your research and keep me posted please We also have a Choctow Indian ancestor named White Horse because she was traded for a horse by her people
