... Spirit lazily grazed, glancing ever so often at some of the mares with their herds. Drew had fallen asleep and the stud nosed his human's side. Drew groaned and peeked up at him from under the crook of his arm. What? I'm sleeping bud. He yawned and rolled back over tucking an arm under his head. The lush grass made a perfect bed and the trees around them created beautiful walls. Spirit whinnied and rolled his eyes. Tracker, the large grey wolf barked at the stallion and playfully nibbled a heel to try and get the stud to chase him. Spirit half reared and galloped after the wolf. They raced into the open playing a rough game of tag. Drew glanced at them from his laying down position and rolled his eyes. Guys stay close! Remember you two don't look like you belong to anybody. It was true. Both animals had been born in the wild and had been saved from death by this human, they were even cared for as if they were still wild beasts. Spirit wore no halter, or tack of any kind. He had no brand and his coat grew wild. Tracker wore no collar and had a few scars as if he'd been in a few fights. They were not tame, but they weren't wild. They were free. The three of them were brothers, all of a different race, all free. Drew moved to a tree at the edge of the wood so he could keep better watch on the two goof balls. He leaned against the trunk and sighed. Out of the bushes another wolf watched. This was a timber with a black coat. The wolf leaped out landing on the human, growling. Drew started slightly then roughly pushed the other off. Will! Would you cut it out? The wolf whimpered slightly and dropped it's head in Drew's lap. Man you gotta stop changing, it's so werid to see you like that. With a bone crunching pop, the male transformed to that of a human litteraly identical to Drew. What? Life's more fun as a wolf. He pulled out some pants from a knapsack and threw them on. Then he hunckered down beside his twin gazing at the wild herds. So, didn't get Spirit a mare did ya? Drew shook his head, the soft brown locks falling into his eyes. Naw, but you know me, I can't bear to throw a rope around one of those beautiful wild being's head. Or to restrain it in any way. How am I suposed to catch it? Will laughed and threw back his slightly darker locks. You've got too much heart bro. Well maybe one of them will get hurt for ya so you can go save it. Spirit's keene hearing picked up on the comment and he thundered over to Will and reared. Will threw his hands over his face but Drew raised a brow at Spirit. He didn't mean it bud, let it go. Spirit landed gracefully and eyed the werewolf. You know Spirit don't like you bro. You'd better watch yourself. Drew warned in a teasing voice. The truth was, Spirit didn't like anybody, except Drew perhaps. He didn't mind Tracker but they'd never been the best of friends, though they watched out of one another because they knew Drew would want them too. Drew sighed, watching the herds again. Wonder what Spirit would like. He used to have his own herd when he was younger. I tried to let him get his own mare but he got overly enraged and almost killed two stallions. I had to get him outta there. Almost got myself killed to. Will snorted. Why didn't you ask your pretty girlfriend to help? Drew glared at Will and Will raised his hands in surrender. Ok sorry, no more about Falconair. Drew sighed and looked out at the plains. Why don't you get yourself a girl? Will shrugged. I think the whole wolf look would kinda freak her out. To bad Faye disapeared. Was kinda nice knowing another like me. Drew smiled and nodded. Yeah, but you could try again, there are plenty of girls out there you could get to know that wouldn't have a problem with you - er - unquiness. Drew patted his brother's arm and leaned back. Why don't you keep an eye out for me. I didn't get much sleep last night. Will smirked and watched the horse and wolf. Ok, but you'd probably sleep better in a bed. Drew snorted, eyes closed. Yeah, and have a nice little house and stable all perfect for all the little horsies and have a family and live like every other Joe around here. Fat chance. He dirfted off and Will remained on watch, thinking about the differences in himself and his brother and the rest of the world ...
