It really does help to "kiss the hosts ..." if that's what you call it! Usually,if they say something like "I listen to your show but don't call-in /or I'm a first time caller"...the host will give them a chance.
Really "politically inncorrect" stuff, does tend to get said and unchallenged. It's up to the listeners to call-in and (politely) point out that they were offended. I'm at the point where I hear some nonsense two or more times, and I'm on the line-(like the bs they were tyrying to say about title IX and Women's/girl's sports-although I still can't find the George Wills article that DON & JEFF acted like they agreed with)...........
Yeah,it can be really bad if someone who hardly ever calls,calls-in and then gets blown away. Bad for them, bad for the listener, bad for the host. It helps if the new caller is prepared. -turn down the radio. Make sure that they have a topic, maybe even write down key words-or points that they want to mention. Sometimes,it helps to tell the host up-front that you have two points that you want to make, that way they will usually help a person along if they lose track of what they wanted to say.
Hey EDDIE-AND,it helps if when someone calls-in,if they have a friend who calls them-up right after they are on-the-air! To "talk them down" a little? I don't know why,but the moments after getting disconnected can be a little wierd, and it really helps the caller if they are not alone.
