Subject: Brilliant But Cancelled

We were watching this show last night, it was on either the Trio or Bravo channel. It was an attempt to analyze the failure of television programs that were thought to be very promising. Most of them were comedies, but the common denominator seemed to be that most of them featured a main character who was very hard to take - unlikable, rude, irascible. The conclusion that many of the writers and producers seemed to come to was that unlikable charaters, even those written with wit and talent, are hard for viewers to take on a weekly basis. After the initial curiosity, people just get worn out by the stridency of a one-note character.
I think the same is true of radio, local or national. The hosts that seem to have most staying power seem to be those that develop a mix of critiques, human interest, news, entertainment and humor.

Thank goodness this Rujane character is not a writer. At least we have that going for us. And regarding this message, I guess it is so important that she wrote it 3 times.

Further, I think it's important that whenever we can agree with someone, that we should.

I agree with Rujane, who is obviously writing about Don Williams, who is a very nasty, "Johnny One Note" sort of guy. This probably explains why he has only a few hundred listeners left in the key demographics.

Good point you made there Rujane, a broken clock is indeed right at least twice a day. Congrats and please consider writing lessons for future development.

Do you get mad at the way Hurley gets brutalized here. Now, they even talk about his family. Talkonline, do you get mad at that? Or, is that ok?

In the following post, it's not his family that is attacked but how he MAY teach them manners, etc. It's not mean, so why be so upset, it's actually a good question. It's not poking fun of his family or saying anything negative only a question as to what HE teaches them. Also, I would NEVER mention his family had he never mentioned them on the air but he does and quite often. Let's put it this way, I like listening to Harry's show but I would NOT let my children listen. What's so wrong about that?

COMPLAINED ABOUT POST??? copied from another spot to below:

I'd rather not get personal regarding Harry's family but don't you think that his name calling affects his children? Really, if he talks at home about Slow Joe and Caveman don't you think that rubs off on his family too, plus, the names he uses at home are probably worse than what he writes and says on the air? That doesn't sound like a very good way to teach young people does it?

If Harry doesn't talk about work at home then I'm wrong about what I said above, and I am sorry.
