Subject: PINKY-VLT caller yesterday

Did anyone hear the caller to PINKY who tried to float some BS about SLOT MACHINES (VLTS) at racetracks in NJ?

PINKY let him speak, the caller tried to use the argument that PHILLY,NYC, MARYLAND...could all have gaming in the near future, and "...shouldn't we get a jump on the competition..." (and keep gaming money in NJ), trying to say that NJ could lose gamblers to other states if we don't spread it out "closer to the borders" of other states???

PINKY-FLAT-OUT,said to the caller, (it sounded like FORKIN-but it couldn't have been, could it?)(something like)"How would That help ATLANTIC CITY?".....

IT WOULD NOT!

I wonder what the rest of the people in NJ would think about this way of trying to put SLOT MACHINES at racetracks???

I wonder if the people in the rest of NJ would care that BRENDAN BRYNE who is on the commitee that is studying the idea of SLOT MACHINES at racetracks, is on The Board of Directors of Mack-Cali,the company that just recieved approval to re-develop The Meadowlands????? ....

Is that is the best that "THEY" can do as far trying to promote a "need" for SLOT MACHINES-(VLTS-also known as THE CRACK COCAINE OF GAMING),at racetracks?

[> The whole thing stinks just like 99.9% of NJ Politicians... -- Pat, 18:13:08 02/20/03 Thu

As usual, the politicians in NJ (and all over the country and world for that matter) are liars and cheats. Always pushing their interests, their friends, to the front line and letting the public and IT'S tax dollars get screwed. I am so sick of NJ, I would love to move but where can I go? NY is almost as bad and from what I understand PA is getting there, especially the Scranton area with overpopulation.

Talkonline, I really think that you should e-mail (a few times) this stuff to O’Reilly; I think he would love to look into this and then it would get national exposure. I have never, ever been to a racetrack and I really do not know any friends who have, except when they turned 18 and went once to feel like an adult! They are a dying business that should be kicked to the curb.

What I still and I guess will never understand is why do these people want to be politicians, what is it about the job that they so desire?

I actually have spent a few afternoons at the track, (and evenings at The Meadowlands-post time 8pm)

I actually love horse racing! BUT-I hate the very idea of slot machines in NJ in ANY other place EXCEPT Atlantic City.

As far as Polititians-I agree!-I have a friend who was just "drafted" to be on the city council of a small town in NJ. She really likes the idea. Her salary for all of the aggravation/responsibility would be $1500. a year. I don't get it either, since she has zero intrest in stealing money or getting kickbacks or even getting appointed to some high-paying/or high pension gu'bment position . My friend said that she thinks that it will be "fun" and she thinks that it couldn't hurt her to meet more people and possibbly drum up some customers for her real estate business. Maybe I'm being overly cynical here??? But, really, unless someone has a personal or political agenda, being a politician seems like a dumb career choice.

Just be patient...
with O'Reilly, you might have to e-mail him a few times before he "gets it" but I really think with all the work you have put into this and the facts that you have surfaced that a lot of his work is already done. I love how you found the Mack-Cali guy all over the place, now that's investigative reporting!!!

Good Job!

[> [> O'Reilly's Schedule -- Pat, 18:42:34 02/21/03 Fri

O'Reilly is on the FOX News Channel at 8PM Monday thru Friday and on WOR (710AM) from 3PM to 5PM before Bob Grant comes on. I love listening to his radio show a little more than his TV show but I really like both.

I also like O'Reilly more than Hannitty but both are good and sorry to say a lot better in my opinion than Pinky.
