Folks,
Just wanted to pass this on and the "self defense" board seemed the logical place.
I got a call from the school today, not very long ago. I had to come get my two boys from school because they had been in a fight.
When I got there and saw my two boys sitting in the office I was very angry, at first as I have told them over and over about how NOT to get sucked into a fight.
The Principal explained what happened and I was never more proud.......Here is what i was told.
My younger son, 11, was getting his stuff out of his locker at the end of the day and got pushed over from behind. A much larger 8th grader began pushing him and calling him names, we still don't know why yet. Anyway, my older son, 13, came down the hall to get him, as is the custom, and saw what was happening. He ran down the hall and pushed the 8th grader away from his brother and told his brother to go get a teacher(exactly what i told him to do) and asked the 8th grader to "please stop"(this is what whitnesses said). The 8th grader turned on my older son and tried to punch him, my boy did a basic block to a choke hold and held on.........the two of them ended up on the ground but my son never let go of the choke and didn't apply enough pressure to really make the kid lose much air. A teacher arrived very shortly and separated them. It all ended with niether of them being hurt.
Apparently this kid is a big trouble maker and could've just been looking for a way to get suspended/expelled. My son is not going to be suspended and the Principal asked if I wanted to press any charges. I did not.
It is so very fullfilling to see that what I have been teaching them has caught on. While my son didn't "look pretty" in his dealing with this kid but he did what the MA teach us to do - Remain calm and try to preserve life.
I just wanted to pass along this incident to all of you as an example of how positive the MA are!
Now I'm leaving to take them all out to eat!!!!
