I can't believe the way the FF'ers are being refered to at the council meeting.First of they were all standing cause they gave their seats to some elderly people, second the show of force was to present to council and the public the message that "WE CARE". We were there to show that we have your families saftey in mind, the public's well being in mind,we are the ones fighting to have the proper equipment and personnel on duty to protect and serve the public.
Do you want to wait 15 min. or more for a out of town ambulance if something happens at your household or business? Or would you rather have a engine with trained FF'er EMT's arrive within 3 mins. to assist.
Do you want us to pull up with less FF'ers and equipment then is needed to conduct a fire attack and search for a trapped person and protect exposures and take care of the injured? Or would you rather have the proper number of personel and equipment that is needed ON DUTY to carry out the many tasks.
The list can go on for miles just how bad things can get and in a hurry without the proper staffing and proper equipment to respond and in a timely manner.
We were their fighting to put those engines back in service for YOU,the public, because we are the ones who know first hand, what a raw deal this is for the citizens.
And we will continue to fight for public safety and we ask the public for their help.
You cannot take public safety for granted, and when you know that the Fire Dept. is only a moments notice away from dealing with ANY situation, that can occur from a major train derailment,to a chemical spill, auto accident with entrapment, woman in labor, structure fire, industrial accident, dog bite, shooting, flooded basement, overdose, child struck by car, difficulty breathing, power lines down, heart attack, drowning victim, smell of natural gas, building collapse,CVA,choking victim, fall down stairs, evacuation,
lighting strike,fireworks accident,someone not breathing,
grease fire,school bus accident,trench collapse,water rescue,high angle rescue,ETC.ETC.ETC.
Don't you want to have the people and equipment ON DUTY,when you need them?
