Subject: Dear Mayor Leighton

The reason i decided to comment on this article was because i am assuming that a fireman or a relative of one had to send it in who else would even know about who is involved. MY OPINION!!
I recently read a post that a CAPT. BILL said not to call the firemen babies...well how come some of you are sure the hell acting like one?
"Please promote two of your fire captains"Oh how sweet!!! What makes them so more qualified? Experience? Seems to me most of the firemen have experience, some more than others and they are privates.The qualifications didn't state that you had to be a CAPTAIN to qualify just experience!!!!!
"Please don't pull a McGroarty and promote a private who is not qualified but a friend of the administration's!!!!"
Give me a frickin break, show me one person that hasn't had contact with one if not more of the administration and just because of that you have to condem them? If i recall i was around for the election of our Mayor and i seemed to remember that there were a great deal of firemen who got involved some were a little hesitant at first but then they sure jumped on the band wagon when the primary was over. Weren't you one of them? So don't hand me that bull sh-- about being a friend!!!!THAT'S A POOR EXCUSE!!!! What's the matter didn't your high profile person help you out this time? Maybe we shouldn't have contact with people in politics or hold a position because it gets held against us.
Before you people take shots at someone for doing something or getting involved with people you should take a good look at yourself first. If you ask me there is a lot of dirty laundry that involves the fire dept. men some who even are involved in the promotion and you have the nerve to keep shooting your mouth off.
The biggest remark was " Please consider the morale of your whole fire dept." Oh now the morale? The morale has nothing to do with the promotion....The morale of the men was down so much when the old chief was on then when they appt. the new one the morale jumped up...Now the morale is back down because of not having enough men on shifts.So don't use that for another excuse why not to promote a private........I feel that no matter what goes on or who knows who, ALL the men should try and get along it's up to them alone to make the morale among themselves.
So to all the people who have so much to say about the promotions get on already what's going to happen will happen and there is NOTHING you can do to change it! Why don't you spend your time and thoughts on something that will be useful in life!! As far as the firemen go i think you have enough problems and worries to keep hacking away at this and i'm sure you have had more than enough back stabbing among yourselves that you need to stick with saving lives rather than destroying them!!!!
