Subject: HARRY-Where are you coming from?

Your said in your letter to Mark----Yes it's true that Rob's input before Council has ended the publics ability to engage in discussion about re-opening East Station at the legislative level.Harry I realy dont think so,when your wife was talking to Kathy Kane at that meeting when I stood up and said no one should be talking about union contract personel staffing level without an E-Board member present.
It was because the public would only get answers to this 3 men on an engine - from our local government's point of view, there was no one there to answer your wife's questions from our union's side(no E-Board member was present). The last time the 3 men per engine thing came up at a meeting, before the closing of East Station, it didn't look good for Local 104 and its members at all. The mayor at that meeting said we ran with 2 men on a engine for all these years, why the change now, and more or less blamed our contract for the lack of engines in service. So there you have it. I didnt want to hear a one sided explanation of our situation that has to do with our present contract. The public would only get one side of the story. So you still say because I talked out of turn, not even being on the agenda, has ended the public's ability to engage in discussion about re-opening East Station at the legislative level? Man what does that mean,we can't bitch any more that we dont have a fire house up on the hill? We can't demand more firemen to be on duty in order to have 4 engines in service all the time. Really? Guess what. I could. You can. And we should. We live on the hill. We live in this city. We work on the department.I want enough guys on duty to handle the most extreme situations. Man if you need a second opinion on what was said at that meeting call Stein. He was there too. Sorry to drag you into this mess Robbie.
