Slow, even breaths helped maintain a suitable level of oxygen in her body. She telepathically urged the other two to do the same. The pressure of the darkness seemed to have increased. Suddenly she held up a hand for them to stop.

His own body glowed with a faint, green light. It did little but make his presence known. He followed the light of the Lady’s sword and heeded every movement. The brute halted and stared at the poor illumination face of the Lady. What is it? He could see nothing. But suddenly his questioned was answered. Something evil had awakened.

Mayleena. Her heart spoke to the fairy’s. I… think… the bell in the main chamber… its further down. But… Her communication cut off for a moment. The serpent is there. He is awake. Stay close, friend. Do not try to fight. Speed is your weapon. Fire Cry… She linked him into the coverstaion. Fire Cry and I will move ahead and prepare you a passage. Stars with you. It was time. Her life’s flame of power stirred and burned anxiously. With her sword, she gestured for Fire Cry to move forward with her. This was it.

The brute moved easily by the Lady’s guidance. His heart was already racing. Beloved, forgive me if I die tonight. He pleaded silently of his beloved who he had left behind for this mission.
