Date Posted: 14:54:42 12/20/05 Tue For those of you that know me, you may not no that I "like" to lose and to lose big. I have been playing raquetball 3 times a week for over 4 months now. I have played against my business partner Tony. Tony played tennis (with a scholarship) for Grand Valley, and has been out of it for about 5 years. However, he has since became a tennis legend at a local tennis club orchard hills. (Only losing very rarely to very good players). I have lost over 240 consecutive games in the past four months and (which means) I have never won a game. I started a novice, who hadn't played since 1993. I always considered a victory (against Tony) to be a matter of "when" not "if". And my theory was correct. This morning at 8:52 am during our second game of the day, I won 16-14. There was no celebration, Tony walked off the court after missing the last point got a drink of water. He returned to the court and we moved onto our usual routine of marginal losses on my part with the occasional skunk. All that said, I would imagine pride or some other selfish fault would have caused me to quit after only a few games. But that deeper force drives some to take unrelenting abuse in the face of hopeless odds, and by opposing, they will find victory. Never, never, never give up. Cheers.
