“I’ll put the rest away then.” She said as he moved to set his plate on the coffee table and tossed pillows on the floor for them to sit on. After Nikita finished putting away the perishables, she popped a French fry into her mouth and as she approached the table she asked, “Tell me Michael, how much does this suite go for?”

Handing her a goblet of red wine he stated matter of factly, “$1,500 Canadian.”

“For how many nights?” She innocently asked, fearing the reply that was surely coming.

“A night…” He announced standing to get a saltshaker from the now empty food cart.

She sputtered and mumbled, “Holy Shit! I’ll need to get a part time job then.”

Michael heard her comment and smiled, “Tell me about yourself. What do you do for a living?”

“You first. What in God’s name brings you to these parts?” Nikita asked looking intently at the man while cutting her chicken cordon bleu into bite sizes.

“I am here… on vacation.” He replied with a smile.

“Vacation, during the peak of hurricane season? You don’t seem to me to be the outdoors type and all the tourists here are usually nature freaks.” She answered a bit shyly between bites; she was hungry and the food was excellent.

“And what type do I look like, Nee-kee-tah?” Michael amusedly asked, emptying his first glass of wine, and topping off hers.

“I don’t know… a business tycoon? Although you are nicely tanned.” She stated, and reached for his arm and after touching him sighed, “And have really nice arms too. Can I change my answer?”

Michael successfully changed the direction of the conversation away from himself, “So, now I know something about you,” He said quite amused, “I can tell you are a really poor judge of character.”

Defensively, Nikita replied. “Am not!” She continued, “Listen mister, I trusted that you are not some freak and that I would be safer here with you than anywhere with Marco O’Brian.”

“Indeed. So we are even.” Picking up the discarded medical journal he looked at her and smiled, asking with a raised eyebrow, “Are you a doctor?”

Chewing, she nodded her head affirmatively.
