Subject: Chevron color for Corinth?

Mark Terry is asking what we know about the chevron color for the 3rd MO dismounted cav and barring that, guidance in general. Don Smith says both were used in 62 as the transition from the traditional state color for infantry (black) gave way to blue but it depends on the unit. Several surviving commutation jackets from Louisiana have black and photos show the same, even when the trim is blue. Some have yellow though the regiment is infantry. Cannot recall seeing any Texas images with chevrons.

Anybody have an opinion here? I would tend to go with black absent any other info but if many of us already have blue we may want to go with that. Thoughts?

Doug
