Subject: McGavock Cemetery: no 15th Tx, but 6th is there

In planning my trip to Tennessee, I wanted to return to the McGavock Cemetery at Carnton Plantation and locate a grave for the unit we're portraying.

I did this last year when I went to Lookout Mountain portraying the 34th MS. I was able to locate a member of that regiment, but not of the company we portrayed. A group of us were able to locate the site in Chattanooga for the solitary soldier of the company we portrayed who died during the battle for Lookout.

I located a website for the cemetery and conducted a search of the page for Texas troops. Although there are several members of the 6th Texas in the McGavock Cemetery, there are no identified persons from the 15th Texas. Here's the link for the McGavock Cemetery. Since the two units had been battlefield consolidated, I expected to see members from both units.

It's not an infantry verses cavalry thing as there are members from the 7th and 10th Texas Cavalry buried there.

With some members of the 6th present, I find the absence of any identified persons from the 15th to be very odd. Any guesses?
