Date Posted: Sunday, June 15, 12:49:58pm In reply to: Frank Ferri 's message, "Stowaways" on Saturday, June 14, 11:34:51am When on the UC Liners there were many incidents that i recall having Stowaways on Board,it seemed to be the in thing those days from Cape Town and other Ports along the Coast many times we heard through the grapevine that there was one aboard. Some just did it for the thrill to see if they could get away with it. (and a lot did of that i am certain) then there were those who just had to get out for one reason or another! I do recall one trip on the Winchester Castle where a chap from the Coloured Quaters was aboard and got caught only about 2 days out of Cape Town, well he was well treated and left to continue the trip to Southampton, under watch of course, then we heard that on arrival in Southampton he was put on the next one back home, what a nice little Holiday and no expense!
