Of course it should! That's actually a good idea. In my high school the "real athletes" flat-out mocked the marching band (mostly out of fear due to a pep rally gone awry a couple years back in which, because of me, the star football player had to go in for a rabies shot...) for trying to call ourselves a "fall sport," but I don't see how it's not like a sport, and it's probably more intense than a high school gym class.... We competed, and I think I sweat more than any of the "real athletes," not to mention acquired probably more injuries. With other athletes talking down on the marching bands, they're just flaunting sheer ignorance, like so many others who have had things to say about music programs of other kinds in the schools. You'll get that.

I think marching band could definitely work as a gym credit. I remember in high school going out in various weather conditions and working on shows until we couldn't work anymore. I think many times we are out in the same conditions and are doing the same amount of work as a lot of athletic people.
