I think that giving Marching Band gym credit is a good idea. Although I think that the marching band should really deserve it. I know that my marching band did not do as much as many others and I don’t know that we would really have deserved gym credit. I do think that if the band does enough work to break a sweat, and because they do have extra practices and time put into it they should be able to get gym credit.

I agree with everyone else and believe that members of the marching band should receive gym credit because of their participation in the marching band. First of all I know how hard many marching bands work. My high school marching band had a month long camp in the summer which we called two-a-days. These practices required a great amount of energy and patience. Marching band required lots of time and you had to be willing to work hard in order to be a part of it. Marching band basically took over most of our summer and first semester of school. Yes, we all did it for fun but it required a lot of work, time, and energy. Also, compared to my gym classes in high school I learned so much more and worked so much harder in the marching band than I did in my gym classes. There were days when my gym teacher just did not feel like doing anything so we just had a study hall or listened to music. There was never a day in marching band when our director just felt like doing nothing and we had a free day. I believe that it is a good idea to have marching band members receive their gym credit for their participation in marching band.
