Chris, yes, we are in contact with the ferry company for the Almeria - Nador crossing. I spoke to them again yesterday. The prices and sailing times have still to be confirmed for October 2004. We are arranging a group discount rate.

Chris, re. What's the S.P. on the Portsmouth Santanda?

Everybody is doing there own thing down to the Atlas-Sahara start in Almeria. There will no doubt be groups of cars going down together. Mike Walker has been in touch, he has had a price of about £370 from Motor Sport Transport. Portsmouth to Santanda return, incuding car and cabin. He worked it out to be cheaper than the cost of the channel crossing, fuel and B&B down through France. He is asking if anyone would like to join him.

Just a thought on the choices of route down. If you book a night ferry Dover Calais before 10th Feb it`s £99, allow £50 per night B and B, and £200 for fuel I reckon you could make it to Almeria for about £400. Against nearly that to Santander plus 650 miles to Almeria. Anyone have any other thoughts.P.P. Shouldn`t we all drive down as Guild members??? :}

At the moment, I'm planning on driving my Caterham to the start (I did consider trailering the car to the start but I feel sure that Peter would disapprove!)

The plan is to do a early morning crossing to France on Saturday or maybe this looks quite tight to get to the scrutineering on time (something I've never managed before!). The other option is to cross to france on Friday afternoon and start on Saturday from the north of France. I looked at the crossings to Spain but can't get enough time off to do them and driving to the start just adds to the lunacy of the trip which is of course appealing. :-)

Anybody else got similar ideas? I'd be interested in getting a small group together to do a convoy run.

Alex

I have been in touch with ferry savers trying to get a block booking from Portsmouth to St Malo on the 1st. Oct returning on the 16th. I have to phone them tomorrow with some idea of numbers, times & dates etc. the more cars we have the better the deal. I just told them the above dates as a rough guide. I think we need three clear days for the run down, don't want to knacker ourselves before the start do we ? So any interested parties please voice your prefrences A.S.A.P.
