Subject: Civilians, unite!

Hey, Ladies: I'm so very glad to see your new website! Claudia Heidbreder, with the School of the Lady, sent it to us in the Houston area. My homeschooling family (three kids; 10, 6, and 2) and I became involved in reenacting about a year and a half ago, as a part of our schooling. We do a civilian impression of a camp school, with Webster's 1828 Dict., McGuffey's Readers, etc. My husband is a polio survivor, and doesn't do the marching-on-uneven-ground thing, but we do camp. Consequently, he has become quite good with his "disabled-in-battle, now schoolmaster-in-a-tent" impression, and he's most interested in seeing more men become involved in civie impressions. Though we are associated with the 11th Texas Cav., we completely agree with your premise, that the military impressions can only tell half the tale of the Civil War, and are thrilled to see more folks doing really good civilian impressions. I have several homeschooling friends that are interested in learning about this hobby, and I'm thrilled to be able to direct them to your website. It's wonderful to have a central point for disseminating information and for connecting civilian reenactors with each other. Thank you, thank you! I'm just sorry we don't live close enough to join you at Old City Park. Keep up the great work! C.E.
