Subject: Formula for Hydraulic Radius

Hi there!

Got a little confused.

In the lecture notes, it is stated that hydraulic radius (R)is Area/wetted perimeter. And wetted perimeter is 2d+W.

In our Lab work, we used R = Area/width.

So when do we use which formula.

1. R = Area/wetted perimeter OR
2. R = Area/width

If using Formula 1, which depth should we use to get wetted perimeter.

I am so fearful that this has been covered during lesson and I was dreaming. I actually plucked up a lot of courage to ask this. So, Dr. Chatterjea, please do not reprimand me.
